Time Axis Manipulation. Three different artists (Silent Servant, Echospace and Redshape) were asked to remix Swedish experimental dub/drone act Mokira (Type, Raster Noton & Mille Plateaux). The stunning result is now released as three limited 10-inch records, including original track on a-side and remix on b-side. A full Mokira cd and digital album will accompany the vinyl releases.

Part I Time TrackThe Mokira Time Track is the deepest of dub music and electronic gear has seldom sounded this organic. Rolling cords and bassline builds slowly towards the dub meltdown. On the b-side Silent Servant (Sandwell District, Historia y Violencia) produces a rolling wall of sound. This is a high energy, metallic sounding dance piece ready to serve djs around the globe. To be played loud, not silent.

Part II Axis AudioMokira ones told Kontra-Musik that three analog tape echoes are needed to produce one Mokira track. When listening to the track Axis Audio you can hear why. Metallic bursts of sound hits like waves on an Irish shore in autumn. Kept together by a solid bassline and a fragile melody Axis Audio is an excursion in beautiful sounds. On the b-side, Echospace (Deepcord, Modern Love) makes you dance. It is distorted, it is minimal, it raw and last but last not least, it is oh so funky. This track will move dance floors. Be so sure.

Part III Manipulation MusikManipulation Musik is the darkest and most cinematic piece on this collection of EPs. Delicate manipulated melodies and melancholic strings moves in and out of a crackling and distorted soundscape, telling an experimental sound tale with a sad ending. On b-side Redshape (Present, Delsin) makes a remix solely using sounds from the original. Redshape described his tape dub version like this: think disco dub, plonk & pain. Not much to add to that it kind of says it all. Enjoy!

Mokira is the first and main alias from the Swedish producer Andreas Tilliander and releases are out on labels such as Raster-Noton, Mille Plateaux and Type. The music of Mokira could be described as electronic kraut, harsh ambient and the deepest dub. All recorded on vintage gear.

Kontra-Musik and Mokira would like to thank Echospace, Silent Servant and Redshape for investing their time and talent in this project and also for using the original parts and samples in such and extensive way. Inspired by his various live performances, Upwellings presents here a perfect studio translation of his night in minimal and dub atmospheres. His first ‘Crackles’ album recalls the hours spent by night clubbers on a dance-floor, hypnotized by laconic and catchy rhythms. 11 tracks are needed to adequately represent the richness of these moments: filled with a constant flow of music, carried by the swaying of a warm crowd, accompanied by screams, movements and repetitive sounds. The notorious Swedish producer Samuel L Session has enjoyed a long running and consistent career as one of the forward-pushing fathers of the modern techno scene. After two heavy remixes of Len Fakis anthemic My Black Sheep back in 08, SLS returns to Figure with Inner City Dust.

Split into 4 parts, each exploring different, tensile areas of big room, encompassing sound, Part 1 sets the tone as a powerful, tumbling bass tone leads the track into a surging, metallic chamber of rising pressure. Trademark SLS fills and FX spill us into the action as the tension builds.

Part 2 holds this tension, and takes us into a dreamy, floating place with its pacy synth patterns and rising and falling percussion array, whisking us off into the smoke

More intense, abstract vibes meet us with Part 3, as a raw and uncompromising theme emerges. Acidic, tripping and unchained, its a defined moment in pure club energy!

Finally the floating, yet still totally bass-heavy tones of Part 4 reach our consciousness. Filtering and freaking around a central, dubbed synth theme its a great DJ tool and a perfect conclusion to the EP.

Fifteenth release on ZeECc, this ‘Heather Country’ comes from another mysterious artist based in east. Zoltan Solomon delivers here his first EP with 4 furious and dynamic tracks. Even if it’s possible to think that it’s just techno sound, a more attentive listening reveals all subtleties and effectiveness of this perfect compromise between pure energy and mental control. In this goal, all tracks go during 7 or 8 minutes and let the time for disobedience of your brain and of your feet. ‘Heather Country’ starts slowly before to become a loud and compressed adventure, colored with kneaded sounds. Sometime hardly stopped, this track comes back again and again to take you in a powerful groove. ‘Thoth’ is developed around some metallic chords, which intertwine in a ritual dance. A nice way to pay tribute to this Egyptian deity of wisdom, art and science. ‘Nibiru’ takes us in a progressive travel, through the interstellar darkness, toward this mythical planet, which appeared in the beginning of humanity and would put an end to it.
